AWESOME!

Because drift missile?

Why 91? I put 87 in my ‘98 LS400 and it could care less.

Wait, how many miles did you drive?? Or were you drifting? It seems crazy to go through that many in one year, unless you were driving a Hellcat. I felt bad going through my one set of Direzza DZ102s in two years and like 30k miles due to my poor alignment and general abuse.

Sort of but its not exactly a missile. It dosent spend any time at a track, it hasn’t been smacked into anything yet, and because it’s on/off a daily depending on how my $500 car situation is.(usually getting a different cheap car every few months that need repairs)

Because, Performance at higher rpm

Over how many kilometers?

Sounds awesome! I’m assuming that’s why the tires out back are skinnier?

Sorry, but the one time I accidentally put 87 in my Whatchamacallit with the 2JZ-GE, it did not run as smoothly and it would actually miss on cold starts.

Its got the 225 out back because they’re cheaper than 245's, Also I wanted to see how they compare, I’ve had 225's on a skinny rim 7.5 but not an 8.5 wide rim. I fear I may loose a bit of control vs the 245 but there’s only one way to find out

Roughly 7000 miles. The odometer hasn’t worked for a couple years so it’s my best guess

Hoonage and a long commute for 4 months with a really bad alignment.

It makes funny sounds for a tank or 2, then the computer adjust and is fine with it.

I understand that. If I get he ISF it’s getting premium for sure. I just don’t run my LS that hard except the occasional Italian tuneup because 315,000 miles have been hard enough on her.

Now I kinda want to try mid or high grade to see if I can feel a difference but man the thought hurts.
![]() 01/02/2018 at 17:56 |

It will only make a difference if the car recommends 91. Its probably not a lot but I don’t like the idea of detonation. The cars knock sensors should notice what’s going on an cut timing a bit until it stops(with lower octane) So the car still runs fine just not 100%.

No. recommends 87, I don’t think there would be a difference but inquiring minds want to know.

Bad alignment will always do you in. Lol worth fixing that! I corded the inner edge of my tires before I got anywhere near the wear bars. Toe was wayyyyyyyy out of whack. Also rode much smoother after fixing that as well.

Wow... and I thought the set of el cheapo Firestone tires I had years ago that only lasted me about 12,000 miles were bad.

It was mostly the driving habits
![]() 01/02/2018 at 18:45 |

I was told It can’t get aligned because the wheels sit too close to the wheel well edges. I really want to know that the toe/camber/ castor is even on both sides. My inner need for symmetry screams knowing it turns differently in one direction vs the other.

You need a different alignment shop then. I imagine some specs cant be adjusted much due to fitment issues but you should be able to find a setting that allows for somewhat even tire wear at least. And unless you are slammed/stanced and on 12 inch wide wheels, that sounds like the shop just doesnt know what they are doing.
![]() 01/02/2018 at 18:55 |

The machine used something that fit over the wheels and they had to roll the car forward and backward a bit. Due to the wheels being basically at the fender with less than a 1/2in space they just told me it couldn’t fit due to the ride height. Your right though, I need to find a shop with a different alignment machine. The nearest shops with that sort of things at least 50 miles away so it’d cost $30 or more In fuel plus the $60 alignment. (Basically I’m cheap)

But even with $90 spent, you could save a solid half of that $1k tire bill. Unless you are doing endless donuts without rotating, theres no way you could go through that many tires just by hooning lol.

I doubt that I could cut it in half but I could probably cut the number down a bit.(when it’s summer the slides really beat the tires down)

Yeah, you need a shop with a laser alignment machine. Most dealerships have them, maybe check there?
